Training | AI Competency Centre
Training & Events
The AI Competency Centre offers training that University members can join at any level of expertise, guiding them through a journey to build confidence in understanding the capabilities and limitations of AI systems, and in selecting the most effective tools for tasks in their practice. We do this through workshops that anybody at the University can join and we also offer custom training to departments and colleges aimed at teachers, students and administrators. Our aim is to ensure sustainable learning, enabling participants to become autonomous, self-directed users of the technology who can also share their knowledge with others through, for example, the Generative AI Special Interest Group.

For Michaelmas 2025, we are offering sessions that are designed for a broad audience who may be unfamiliar with AI or would like to learn more about the field in general.
All our latest webinars and PowerPoint presentations are available on Canvas. Users need to self-enrol in the course to receive notifications when new items are uploaded.
Details for training related to the ChatGPT Edu rollout can also be found with our other upcoming trainings.

Getting Started with AI: Introductory Training for Oxford Staff & Students
For the University-wide rollout of ChatGPT Edu, the rollout team has curated supportive, jargon-free sessions to get all Oxford staff and students feeling confident to start experimenting with these tools in your own work and studies.
There are three offerings to choose from:

For those who are already familiar with AI, we offer free AI training sessions to colleges and departments during term time. These can be tailored for students to learn how to apply AI practically in their studies, as well as for tutors and support staff who may want to explore the range of available tools. To request one of these workshops, please fill out the custom workshop enquiry form below.
For basic training, please refer to the introductory training offerings launched in Michaelmas Term 2025: GenAI Literacy
There may be trainings which we don't have currently have scheduled for the term which you may want us to deliver in the future. To assist with this, we have created a training suggestion form. If we are unable to provide it within our team's expertise, we can direct you to the appropriate resources or bring in external providers to deliver the content or training.
