Your First Steps with ChatGPT: Introductory Training for Everyone

Audience Exposure Level: Level 1: Never used AI

Curious about AI but not sure where to begin? This beginner-friendly training is designed to introduce you to Oxford’s new GenAI tools, including ChatGPT Edu.

In a supportive, jargon-free session, you will learn how to access secure, University-supported AI tools with your Oxford Single Sign-On (SSO), see practical demonstrations of how they can help with everyday tasks (from summarising research to drafting emails, brainstorming ideas, or analysing data), and pick up simple tips for asking better questions (prompts) to get the results you need.

We will also cover how to use AI responsibly by understanding its strengths, recognising common pitfalls, and pointing at Oxford’s guidance on privacy, ethics, and academic integrity.

No prior experience with AI is required, and all questions are welcome. By the end, you will feel confident to start experimenting with these tools in your own work and studies, supported by the University’s dedicated AI Competency Centre.

There are three offerings to choose from:

  1. Online training
A free 90-minute webinar for all staff
  2. In-person training
A free 90-minute course at IT Services, Banbury Road, open to all staff
  3. Group training
Custom training can be requested to get your entire team/department upskilled together (SSO staff login required)

These sessions run frequently and regularly through the term.
