Intro to Generative AI: Hands-on session

Join us for this chance to try out generative AI first-hand – with the option of exploring OpenAI's ChatGPT, Microsoft's Copilot or Google's Gemini in the workspaces available to you though your University accounts in a supported environment. Whether you're curious about AI, need to try it for a project, or just want to see how it can help with creative writing, brainstorming, coding, and more, this bookable time is for you!

Objectives

  • Explore the use of Generative AI within the environments supported at Oxford
  • Become comfortable writing prompts for Generative AI
  • Discover the limitations of Generative AI and how to work around them
  • Compare and contrast the Generative AI tools available to you

Please note the session is oriented around activities which require you to sign in the web apps requiring your Single Sign-On (SSO), password and device required for MFA, remember to bring these with you to the session or you will be unable to complete these.

What You Will Need:
If you will want to save a copy of the course files, you will need to bring a USB stick or your Oxford SSO details (and MFA method). The computer and software are provided. However you can bring your own device with the correct software installed (read Digital Capabilities' BOYD guidance first). You will need to be able to copy the provided files from the classroom computers onto your own device.

You can book onto one of these open sessions through the Intro to Generative AI: Hands-on session booking link.
