Date & Time

Tuesday 23 Jun 2026 14:00 - 15:00

Audience exposure level: Level 3: Use AI on a daily basis

This course introduces participants to Codex as a practical tool for working with files, folders, data, and workflows on their own computer. In this hands-on session, participants will learn how Codex differs from browser-based AI tools, how to set it up safely, and how to use it to complete a first practical task. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how Codex works, what it can do locally, and how it might support everyday work such as organising files, analysing data, creating reports, or building simple personalised workflows.

Objectives

  • Describe what Codex is and how it differs from browser-based AI tools such as ChatGPT.
  • Explain how Codex works with local files and folders, including why desktop access, synced folders, and project structure matter.
  • Set up Codex for a first practical task, including basic awareness of permissions, local tooling, and managed-device constraints.
  • Use Codex to complete a simple workflow, such as organising files, working with CSV data, creating a visual output, or generating a short report.
  • Use project instructions effectively, including files such as `agent.md, skills`, task logs, changelogs, and other markdown-based instructions.
  • Apply basic safety practices when using Codex, including asking it to explain permissions, installs, packages, or unfamiliar actions before approving them.
  • Identify one personal or professional workflow where Codex could reduce repetitive work or create a more useful interface to existing tools.
