Software Sustainability Institute enters its Fourth Phase
It has just been announced that the Software Sustainability Institute (SSI) is entering a new phase of funding from UK Research and Innovation. SSI was formed in 2010, with the enduring principle of “Better Software Better Research”, and for many years held its annual Collaborations Workshop in Oxford – in fact this is where the term Research Software Engineer was invented back in March 2012.
Oxford e-Research Centre took a lead on engagement with Arts and Humanities in the recent phase, which saw publication of reports including Shaping data and software policy in the arts and humanities research community.
SSI’s Phase 4 funding is led by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, and Oxford will continue to facilitate engagement with the Arts, Humanities and Cultural Heritage communities through collaboration with the Digital Scholarship team.
