Oxford e-Research Centre researchers feature in ELIXIR-UK films, presenting the FAIR-enabling resources we lead on
The ELIXIR-UK is the United Kingdom Node of ELIXIR, the intergovernmental organisation that brings together life science resources from across Europe. ELIXIR-UK leads life science organisations in managing and safeguarding the increasing volume of data being generated by publicly funded research. It coordinates, integrates and sustains bioinformatics resources across its members and enables users in academia and industry to access services that are vital for their research.
The UK Node supports life science data with training and services that help the research community discover, distribute, analyse, and store data, exchange expertise and agree on standards. The University of Oxford is a member of ELIXIR-UK, and Oxford e-Research Centre researchers in the Data Readiness Group play key roles in contributing to the organisation’s aims to turn FAIR into reality. The FAIR Principles (of Findability, Accessibility Interoperability and Reusability) are a set of guidelines that emphasise the use of data by machine, and have de facto become the global norm for good Research Data Management practices, a pre-requisite for replicability and reproducibility.
ELIXIR-UK has produced a set of films to introduce the Node, its mission and key resources, these include FAIR-enabling resources such as the FAIR Cookbook and FAIRsharing, run by the Data Readiness Group in collaboration with the public and private sectors, and already adopted and recommended by funders and publishers.
Dr Philippe Rocca-Serra: FAIR Cookbook and collaborating with pharmas
Philippe speaks about the FAIR Cookbook, an online, open and live resource for the Life Sciences with recipes that help you to make and keep data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable; in one word FAIR.
Professor Susanna-Assunta Sansone: Working with national and global initiatives for reproducible and FAIR Data
Susanna speaks about working with national and global initiatives for reproducible and FAIR Data and the role of the UK Node.
Dr. Allyson Lister: FAIRsharing and working with funders and publishers
Allyson talks about FAIRsharing, a curated, informative and educational resource on data and metadata standards, inter-related to databases and data policies
