The Oxford Energy Society is the University of Oxford's only student society dedicated to informing people about, and involving people in, the issues surrounding climate change and the global supply and demand of energy. The Society endeavours to provide a platform for all points of view with the aim of stimulating discussion and broadening knowledge.

The Oxford Energy Society has finalised it's series talks for the upcoming term by bringing in entrepreneurs, academics, and executives to discuss the energy sector and its transitions. Talks are open to all and start at 17:00 in the Atmosphere room, School of Geography and the Environment, South Parks Rd, Oxford OX1 3QY. The talks are also streamed via Facebook.

Robert Bamber:

Rob studied his BEng as a mechanical engineer at Birmingham University before working in the electrical generation industry for Doosan Babcock on various projects in both thermal and nuclear power plants. Rob worked for 10 years at UKAEA on the JET, MAST-U and ITER tokamaks. Rob studied his MSc in nuclear energy in France and spent some time on the JHR fission reactor before joining Tokamak Energy as a mechanical engineer in 2019. He has subsequently been promoted to chief engineer for the ST-40 tokamak, which is a high field spherical tokamak currently operating.

Erica Thake:
Erica studied for her BSc in Physics at Durham University before going on to train and qualify as a European Patent Attorney at an Intellectual Property Law firm, working with various immerging and developing technologies. Two years ago, she took the opportunity to join Tokamak Energy to work towards delivering a future clean energy source. In her role as IP Manager, she splits her time between protecting knowledge generated across the company via various legal mechanisms, developing the company’s IP strategy and managing the IP team.
