Dr Neil Ashton to talk at Parallel CFD conference

The Centre's Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) expert Dr Neil Ashton has been invited to speak at the Parallel CFD conference in Glasgow.

Parallel CFD (ParCFD) is an annual international conference devoted to the discussion of recent developments in parallel computing and its applications to the field of CFD and related disciplines.

The conference will be hosted by the Faculty of Engineering and the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, from 15-17 May 2017.

Dr Ashton is a Senior Researcher at the Centre. He is an expert in Computational Fluid Dynamics, with a particular focus on turbulence modelling, and has worked on a number of EU projects with leading companies such as Airbus, Rolls-Royce and Volkswagen to develop new turbulence models suitable for complex industrial flows.

At the ParCFD conference Dr Ashton will talk on High-Fidelity Road Car & Full-Aircraft Simulations using OpenFOAM on ARCHER - Perspectives On The Need For Exa-Scale, in a breakout session on Tuesday 16 May.

He will also partner with Barcelona Supercomputing Centre in the session on Turbulence and Multiphysics, to give a talk entitled Assessment of the LES capabilities of Alya,OpenFOAM and STAR-CCM+ for complex turbulent flows at low and high Reynolds numbers.
