The Centre's Senior Research Lecturer Dr Philippe Rocca-Serra is chairing and organizing the Bio-Ontologies Community of Special Interest at the International Society of Computation Biology 2017 Conference, held this year in Prague, Czech Republic, July 24-25th.

The annual international conference on Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB) is the major meeting of the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB).

Joining forces with the European Conference on Computational Biology (16th Annual Conference), ISMB/ECCB will provide an intense multidisciplinary forum for disseminating the latest developments in bioinformatics/ computational biology, fostering fresh dialogues and perspectives to learn about and shape the future of the field.

ISMB/ECCB 2017 brings together bioinformaticians and computational biologists working in a wide range of disciplines, including molecular biology, biology, medicine, computer science, mathematics and statistics.

The Bio-Ontologies Special Interest Group covers the latest and most innovative research in the application of ontologies and more generally the organization, presentation and dissemination of knowledge in biomedicine and the life sciences.

Bio-Ontologies is celebrating its 20th year at ISBM in 2017.

The Organizing Committee comprises Michel Dumontier, Maastricht University, The Netherlands; Robert Hoehndorf, King Abdullah University of Science & Technology, Saudi Arabia; Philippe Rocca-Serra; and Karin Verspoor, University of Melbourne, Australia.
